How to play Mini Sudoku

  1. Pick a size — 4×4 (digits 1–4) or 6×6 (digits 1–6), with the buttons above the grid.
  2. Fill rows & columns — each row and column must contain every digit exactly once.
  3. Fill the boxes — each outlined box (2×2 on a 4×4, 2×3 on a 6×6) must also contain every digit once.
  4. No repeats — a digit can’t repeat in any row, column or box.
  5. Play it — tap a cell then a number, ⌫ to clear. Every board has one solution by logic alone.

What is Mini Sudoku?

Mini Sudoku is just Sudoku shrunk to a smaller grid — most often 6×6, sometimes 4×4 — keeping the one rule everyone knows: each row, column and box holds each digit exactly once. A 4×4 uses digits 1–4 with 2×2 boxes; a 6×6 uses 1–6 with 2×3 boxes. Fewer cells means a faster solve, which makes mini Sudoku great for learning the logic, for children, or for a quick puzzle on a break.

4×4 vs 6×6

4×4 is the gentlest introduction — only four digits and tiny boxes, so it’s solvable in a minute and ideal for kids or absolute beginners. 6×6 is the classic “mini” size: still quick, but with enough room (2×3 boxes) for real scanning and deduction. Switch between them any time with the size buttons, and tap New for an endless supply. When you’re ready for the full challenge, move up to 9×9 Sudoku.
